RESOLUTION 2006-862
A RESOLUTION UPDATING THE STRATEGIC GOALS AND STRATEGIC INITIATIVES FOR THE CITY OF MARYLAND HEIGHTS
- WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Maryland Heights has adopted a mission statement to serve as a reminder of how city services and staff will relate with the community on a daily basis; and
- WHEREAS, the City Council first established a Strategic Plan in 2000 to carryout that mission; and
- WHEREAS, the City Council has annually reviewed and revised that Plan; and
- WHEREAS, the City Council recently completed its annual review of the city’s strategic goals for 2006 to 2010.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MARYLAND HEIGHTS, AS FOLLOWS:
- RESOLVED, the Strategic Goals of the City of Maryland Heights for the five-year period 2006 to 2010 shall remain as follows:
- Goal 1 We will enhance and diversify our economic base in order to make available quality employment opportunities, maintain the financial strength of local governmental jurisdictions serving our residents, and improve the quality and appearance of our community.
- Goal 2 We will provide safe, efficient and attractive transportation systems in order to increase access and mobility for those who live in, work in and visit our city.
- Goal 3 We will provide responsive, proactive and effective enforcement of laws and codes in order to have a safe environment for those who live in, work in and visit our city.
- Goal 4 We will support sound fiscal policies and prudent budgeting in order to ensure the continuation of superior municipal services and our long-term financial sustainability.
- Goal 5 We will enhance our identity and visual appearance in order to strengthen our position as a desirable residential community, as a major commercial center and as the hospitality center of the region.
- FURTHER RESOLVED, the updated Strategic Initiatives attached hereto, marked Exhibit A, are adopted to further the Strategic Goals established herein, and the City Administrator is authorized and directed to take such actions as necessary to implement these initiatives; and
- FURTHER RESOLVED, the Council will continue to review periodically the progress made in the implementation of these updated goals and initiatives and revise, add to, or remove initiatives, as deeded appropriate by the Council.
