New Fitness Stations at Vago Park

Post Date:02/09/2017 10:59 AM

Located next to the brand new playground in Vago Park sits another new addition, but this one is for ages 14 and older. Now available to the community are nine units of Greenfields Outdoor Fitness equipment.

This section of the park can accommodate up to 25 users at once and boasts a variety of equipment functions. It includes stations for lower body workouts, a pendulum for abs and dips, cross-country ski, back and arm workouts, static station, leg and vertical presses, pull-down and chest press. Some equipment pieces are designed to be ADA accessible, so there's something for everyone.

All of these units can have up to two people on them at a time and three stations can accommodate up to four people at once. This equipment, available to all park patrons during park hours, is a great addition to Vago Park. Each station has instructions posted so even those completely new to fitness equipment will be able to properly use it.

Having an outdoor fitness area will give our residents and visitors another option for exercise. Although the weather may not be ideal now, we hope that many will take advantage of this new addition.

According to studies done by the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), those who exercised outdoors exercised longer and more frequently than those exercising indoors. Furthermore, studies also show that those who exercise outdoors have lower levels of cortisol, the stress hormone, after their workout than those who exercise indoors.* Also, Vitamin D is plentiful and included with an outdoor workout. In a world filled with TV screens and cell phones, your mind becomes accustomed to the constant motion, colors and sounds of media consumption. This spring, unplug and try to turn some of that "screen-time" into "green-time."
