Maryland Heights is home to more than 28,000 residents, 1,700 businesses, 4,000 hotel rooms, and numerous dining, recreation, and entertainment opportunities.

The City has a prime location in the center of the St. Louis Metropolitan area, located at the intersection of Interstates 70 and 270, and within a short drive of Interstates 64, 44 and 55. An eight-lane regional highway, U.S. 364, serves as one of two bridges connecting Maryland Heights to neighboring St. Charles County across the Missouri River, which forms the city's western boundary. Lambert-St. Louis International Airport is a 10-minute drive from Maryland Heights.

Since incorporation in 1985, the City has seen significant growth, both residential and commercial. Every year, approximately 9 million visitors come to the City. Thanks to major investments in constructing, rebuilding, and maintaining infrastructure the City is able to optimize access throughout the community.

Maryland Heights prides itself on its service-first staff and responsive elected officials. The police department has a sterling reputation, and our already-low crime rates have fallen over the years.

The long-term vision for Maryland Heights includes the redevelopment of one of its major thoroughfares, Dorsett Road, through the creation of a Tax-Increment Financing district along its eastern end. 2,000 acres in the Howard Bend Planning Area are also available for future development. Several sites are currently zoned for development of large office buildings.

The City recently realized a long-time goal when it completed construction of the Maryland Heights Community Center (MHCC) in spring 2017. The City celebrated the facility’s opening in May 2017. Memberships continue to grow and the MHCC has quickly become the heart of the Maryland Heights community. In September 2019, the City of Maryland Heights opened the Centene Community Ice Center located off of Casino Center Dr. This ice center is home to hockey programming for all ages and abilities and also offers lessons and daily public skating. This location is also home to the Saint Louis Music Park, a 4,500 seat outdoor concert venue.

A number of major corporations call Maryland Heights home. They include: Edward Jones; Charter Communications; World Wide Technology; Magellan Health Services; Hollywood Casino; Watlow Electric; and Enterprise Holdings.

The public school districts serving Maryland Heights, Parkway and Pattonville, have both earned "Distinction in Performance" recognition from the Missouri Department of Education. Maryland Heights has access to five city parks as well as St. Louis County's 2,000-acre Creve Coeur Park.
