On Monday, August 21, the City of Maryland Heights will witness a PARTIAL SOLAR ECLIPSE. The path of totality (where you can view the total solar eclipse) ends near our southwestern border but that doesn't mean we can't partake in the festivities!
The City of Maryland Heights and the Maryland Heights Chamber of Commerce are partnering up to host a FREE hot dog lunch for the first 500 participants. There is no registration for this event and it is first come, first serve. The first 500 attendees will receive a hot dog, bag of chips, moon pie, drink and special eclipse viewing glasses. This is a great opportunity for our residents who don't want to go very far or for all of those who work within Maryland Heights that can join us on their lunch break!
We will be setting up outside at the north end of the Maryland Heights Community Center. There is direct access from the large parking lot shared with Aquaport.
The only way to obtain the eclipse viewing glasses is to be one of the first 500 in attendance. The Maryland Heights Chamber of Commerce are providing the glasses and has only ordered enough for this event.
The best time to view the eclipse will be at approximately 1:17 PM.
