St. Louis Regional Health Insurance Fair

Getting access to health insurance can be a scary process - but it doesn't have to be! There are many options for affordable, accessible insurance for anyone and everyone who may be in need. The following information details all the different options available, as well as periods of open enrollment eligibility.

Some quick facts about the different kinds of insurance on offer:

Affordable Care Act (a.k.a. Obamacare) Marketplace:
  • If you don’t currently have insurance, this is the plan for you! Open to EVERYONE!
  •  Monthly premiums determined based on your income (meaning they’re affordable!)
  • A plan for almost every income!
  • Requires a YEARLY RE-ENROLLMENT to keep coverage (We can help!)
Anyone that makes too much to qualify for MoHealthNet/Medicaid (earns more than $1500/month), is too young to qualify for Medicare (under 65 years old), and does not receive insurance through their employer is eligible for the ACA Marketplace. If you DO NOT HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE, the ACA Marketplace is right for you! Don’t miss out - open enrollment for 2022-2023 is from Nov 1 – Jan 15, and is your best chance to sign up for 2023 ACA Marketplace coverage. Sign up at healthcare.gov

Medicare:

Medicare is an insurance option for those ages 65+ - it's how many seniors  get the insurance coverage they need to stay safe and healthy in older age! Open enrollment runs from October 15 – December 7, 2022, so now is the time to plan for coverage!

Some short Medicare facts:
  • Insurance for those age 65 and older!
  • SOME PLANS require a YEARLY RE-ENROLLMENT (check with your insurance company to see if this applies to you!)
  • Different plans cover different services (vision, dental, primary care, etc.) - get help finding the best plan for you at the health fair!
MoHealthNet (a.k.a Medicaid):

Have you heard about the MoHealthNet expansion? MoHealthNet, also known as Medicaid, is an accessible insurance plan that recently expanded its income eligibility guidelines so that more people could get access to quality healthcare!

Some short MoHealthNet/Medicaid facts:
  • Insurance for adults, children, pregnant people, elderly, Blind, and people with disabilities who are low income.
  • Modified income eligibility for certain groups
  • No monthly premium for most plans

More people qualify for MoHealthNet than ever before! If you're not sure you qualify, we can help you at the fair!

**NOTE:**
The 2022 St. Louis Regional Health Insurance Fair took place on November 19, 2022. We appreciate everyone who attended, as well as the support from all our partners that made the event possible. While we're early in planning stages on next year's event, we wanted to preserve the event information we provided for 2022. The following text pertains to that event.

Everyone deserves access to quality healthcare, and during the open enrollment period this fall, EVERYONE can get covered with accessible and affordable health insurance options.

This year, Maryland Heights will be hosting the first annual STL Regional Health Insurance Fair on Saturday, November 19 from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the Government Center. This event is open to EVERYONE - not just Maryland Heights residents! At the event, volunteers from organizations throughout Eastern Missouri will assist St. Louis area residents looking to enroll in health insurance plans. You can register for this free event here! Registration opens on October 1, 2022, and is available until the day of the event on November 19!

COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic

In addition, we’ve partnered with the St. Louis County Department of Public Health to offer a COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic on the day of the event. From 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., anyone ages 5 and up will be able to get a COVID shot at the Health Insurance Fair. This includes first and second doses, as well as booster shots! In order to get vaccinated, it must’ve been AT LEAST 2 months since your most recent COVID-19 vaccine/booster.

We will ONLY accept walk-in guests for the COVID shots – don’t miss out on the chance to get covered with us! In addition, we will only be offering Pfizer vaccines on the day of the event – if you got your first dose from another manufacturer, we will not be able to facilitate that second shot. However, booster shots are not manufacturer dependent, so anyone can get a Pfizer booster regardless of previous vaccine history! The Health Education team from the Department of Public Health will also be present on the day of the event to share resources with those in attendance.

Thank you to all of our partners and volunteers that have made this event possible! This includes partners from Affinia Healthcare, Bilingual International Assistant Services (BIAS), CLAIM, NOVUS Health, and social workers from throughout the St. Louis area!  We’re looking forwards to assisting as many people as we can on the 19th!
