CALEA Accreditation

The Maryland Heights Police Department was accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Inc. (CALEA®) Agency in 2016.

The CALEA accreditation program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services. Our department will be assessed on 183 standards with 700 sub-standards from December 4-6, 2023. This type of on-site assessment occurs every four years.

It is essential to know that CALEA is not an investigatory body; subsequently, the Public Comment Portal should not be used to submit information for such purposes. Additionally, there will be no response other than acknowledgment to submissions. However, the information will be considered in context to its relevancy to compliance with standards and the tenets of CALEA® Accreditation.

As part of the on-site assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments via the CALEA Public Comment Portal at: https://cimrs2.calea.org/198.

If you have questions about our agency, standards, or process, please contact: Lieutenant Jeff Swatek, Accreditation Manager at (314) 738-2359.
