Judy Barnett Memorial Scented Garden: Dedicated on Sept. 24, 2011, the Judy Barnett memorial Scented Garden honors the service and leadership of the late councilwoman. Often considered the “Mother of Maryland Heights,” Councilwoman Barnett was instrumental in the effort to incorporate the City of Maryland Heights, which took place in 1985. She served more than 17 years on the City Council and was a champion of cultural arts in Maryland Heights and the region. The garden challenges you to cover your eyes and identify the plantings by touch and smell. Then you will have experienced the everyday challenge lived by our fellow citizens with visual disabilities.
