Description : The Police Department is looking for a part-time Emergency Dispatcher. This position works in a fast-paced, stressful environment; the successful candidate must have the ability to multitask, maintain focus and remain calm under emergency conditions despite many interruptions. The position will require working rotating 12-hour shifts, weekends and holidays.  

The pay range for this position is $27.02/hour-$34.45/hour

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties of this position include answering all incoming 911 and non-emergency calls to the Police Department, monitoring telephone and police radio and dispatching police and other emergency response vehicles. Other duties include maintaining a log of radio and telephone communications, location of personnel and equipment maintaining contact with responding personnel, entering data into standard department forms, monitoring individuals in holding cells and performing other related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent, 2-3 years of emergency dispatch experience and proficiency in keyboarding are required. Ability to use Microsoft Office products proficiently and the ability to learn new software quickly are highly desired. Prior experience working with the public in person and on the phone is preferred.

This position works in an office setting and is occasionally required to lift up to 30 pounds. The position has frequent contact with the public.

This position also requires the ability to remain calm under stressful situations, the ability to speak clearly and concisely, the ability to work well with others and the ability to be available during emergencies.
