**Attention - Changes to mask requirement at city facilities**

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Maryland Heights adopted certain policies and procedures to protect not only the employees of the city but also the general public. Based on the recent findings with St. Louis County Department of Public Health and the CDC, City Council voted tonight (3/3/22) to amend the mask wearing policy for city employees.

Due to a decrease in daily COVID-19 cases, test positivity rate and COVID-19 hospitalizations, vaccinated employees are no longer required to wear masks inside facilities. Unvaccinated employees who have been granted an accommodation, shall wear a mask when traveling outside of their immediate work area.

In coordination with St. Louis County’s orders, masks will no longer be required for patrons who visit Maryland Heights’ facilities (Government Center, Police Department, Municipal Court, and Community Center). Masks are still highly recommended to help prevent the transmission of COVID-19.
It is important to note that while the urgent need for mandatory face covers has subsided, the pandemic is not over and the City of Maryland Heights will continue to follow St. Louis County and CDC guidelines. Private businesses are allowed to place their own restrictions regarding mask wearing. The best way to protect yourself and your family is to get vaccinated/boosted, continue to wear face coverings in crowded areas with poor ventilation and to stay home when sick.
