City Seeking Artist(s) for Mural Project

Wall Edited

The City of Maryland Heights is inviting Missouri artists to apply for a public art project - an original mural located on the concrete wall along Dorsett Road between Fee Fee and Reading Roads. The project is sponsored by the Maryland Heights Beautification Commission and being coordinated through the Maryland Heights Parks and Recreation Department.

Through a recent resident survey, the Parks and Recreation Department has obtained input from community members. The top mentioned themes included: diversity, families, gardens, flowers, trees and other natural elements. Click here for detailed responses from the survey.

This project is open to all artists and artist teams, 18 years and older, who are legal residents of the United States residing in Missouri. Professional artists with experience in the field of public art are encouraged to apply. All applicants will be considered.

Applicants will have to provide a statement of interest, project plan, draft sketch, examples of past work, and several other details.  The Beautification Commission and supporting City staff will review applications and choose finalists. The evaluation process may include a community input portion. Artists will be evaluated based on artistic and technical merit, strength of past work, and understanding of this project as demonstrated by their response on the application.

The deadline for artists to apply is Tuesday, January 10, 2023 by 5:00 p.m. Late and incomplete submissions will not be considered. Artists may apply online at www.marylandheights.com/mural or choose an alternate method for transmittal such as mail, email or hand delivery.
