A Message From Mayor Moeller - June/July

Summer is finally here! As the days grow longer and the temps are warmer, we have so many activities planned. Whether you are looking for excitement or relaxation, our eight page Summer Staycation Guide is packed with attractions that will keep you busy without venturing too far from home. From our favorite local water park, Aquaport (details on their programming and events available here) to the summer concert series with the new addition of the Pop-Up Markets (details here), there's something for everyone to enjoy this season.

For those looking to stay indoors and expand their knowledge, we are excited to offer a Digital 101 class on AI Technology. This will be a great opportunity for residents to learn about the latest advancements and how they can impact our daily lives. Additionally, Maryland Heights University is opening up their registration inviting residents to discover how your city operates through this free, educational program .

Our Police and Public Works Departments are both celebrating recent re-accreditations, a testament to their continued dedication of excellent service. On a related note, we recently honored some of our police staff at an awards ceremony, including the "Officer of the Year."

As we enjoy all the summer festivities, it's important to remember that fireworks are illegal in our city. Our team has provided vital information on this topic to help ensure everyone's safety, available here.

Also included in this issue, are updates regarding the new developments at Westport Plaza. We are happy to welcome so many new businesses to our City which include 360 Westport, the Soda Fountain Express, and the Rawlings Experience - which is set to become a must-visit spot.

And while summer brings fun and relaxation for some, there are others that are seriously affected by the heat and lack of school lunches. For those in need, we've listed a variety of summertime resources to provide assistance on page 10. And as we prepare for the upcoming school year, Maria's Backpacks, our annual school supply drive will be kicking off on her birthday on July 3. Please help us honor her memory by donating items.

I hope you enjoy your summer, stay safe, and make the most of all the wonderful things our city has to offer!
