A Message from Mayor Moeller - July

Summer is in full swing and our city is alive again! The return of employees from many of our businesses in town and events being booked at locations such as Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre and the all-new St. Louis Music Park is very exciting! We are ready to welcome everyone back to Maryland Heights.

Last month, we held WorldFest at the St. Louis Music Park located within the Centene Community Ice Center. The day was filled with everything from Japanese drumming to Irish dancing to a German brass band. We look forward to growing this annual tradition in its new home. Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate all the cultures that make Maryland Heights a wonderfully diverse place to live.

If you haven't been by the St. Louis Music Park, you will be able to check out this fantastic space at Jingle Jangle in July on July 24. This new event organized by the Parks and Recreation Department features an opportunity to get your photos with Santa before the craziness of the holidays take over. Perhaps this can become your new *summer* holiday tradition? Click here for more information.

Being a resident in a town with so many fantastic attractions and restaurants have their advantages. Adventures are just a few miles (or steps) away. If you'd like to lend a hand to any out-of-state guests, consider posting a review of your favorite Maryland Heights restaurant or attraction on travel websites. A few minutes of your time can help support your local businesses by attracting new guests when they read your rave review.

Many visitors choose to stay in Maryland Heights over other nearby cities because of our convenient location and our professional and responsive police department. With safety being our top priority to both residents and visitors alike, we have decided to alter our operations at our municipal water park, Aquaport. For the remainder of the summer, non-resident guests will have to pre-register on Eventbrite and reserve tickets for a specific date. We will also be limiting the capacity on the number of non-residents who will be able to enter each day. Our intention is not to deter visitors from enjoying our amenities but it is to ensure that an enjoyable time is had by all. Please note, Season Pass holders and Maryland Heights residents (and their guests) can continue to visit Aquaport without a reservation. Now is the time to take advantage of the VIP lanes and the early hour entry. See www.marylandheights.com/Aquaport for more information.

Maryland Heights continues to be a very kind, welcoming and supportive community. Our staff experienced this community love in February of 2020 when the Parks and Recreation Department lost employee Maria Lucas to tragedy. Maria was such a bright spirit to everyone who crossed her path. She was especially loved by children while working as a summer camp counselor. We invite you to join us to celebrate and memorialize her life on July 22 in Vago Park. Click here for more information.

As activities resume and visitors appear, please enjoy your summer and stay safe.
