The City of Maryland Heights is accepting applications for Grounds Crew workers in its Aquatics Center for the upcoming season. Grounds Crew workers will work a varied schedule that will include evenings, weekends and holidays. No experience needed - we will train you!
Individuals hired for this position must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
The starting pay for this position is $12.00 per hour.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Report directly to the Aquatic Supervisor/Recreation Manager (Maintenance as necessary).
- Responsible for assisting in the upkeep and cleanliness of Aquaport.
- Assist pool maintenance with removing and cleaning automatic pool vacuum, sweeping and cleaning pool bottoms, cleaning skimmer baskets and lint baskets, leaf/debris removal from pools, scum lines, and algae removal.
- Assist with cleaning locker rooms, party areas, concession area, pump rooms, taking out trash, cleaning windows, power washing decks, hosing/scrubbing floors, and cleaning out drains.
- Assist in cleaning of all bridges, stair cases, ladders, storage areas, trash can bins, and external lockers.
- Ability to use small tools, cleaning supplies, power washer, leaf blower, wet/dry vacuum, pool vacuums, pool skimmers/brushes, etc.
- Ability to move equipment, such as deck chairs, umbrellas, trash dumpsters, pool cleaning equipment, and tables.
- Maintain the upkeep of the lazy river tubes, including but not limited to filling tubes with air, patching holes, stacking of tubes and keeping tubes organized and clean.
- Assist with the set up and tear down of programs, special events and rentals.
- Assist concessions and front gate with overall cleanliness and facility aesthetics.
- Maintain external grounds; including trashcans, picnic area, parking lot, walking paths and gates and keep areas free from debris.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with supervisors and other employees, as well as independently.
- Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods outdoors, under a variety of weather conditions.
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Ability to understand and work within safety guidelines.
- Maintain a professional and mature attitude toward responsibilities, fellow staff and patrons.
- Must be a minimum of 15 years of age with some labor experience preferred.
