Residents Recycle Over 25,000 lbs. of Electronics

At the April 9 Electronic Recycling event provided by Midwest Recycling Center (MRC), a total of 25,038 pounds (12.52 tons) of electronics were collected! Thank you to everyone who participated.

If you weren’t able to make it to the April event, mark your calendars for the next Electronics Recycling Event on Saturday, September 10. Registration will begin on July 1 and end on September 7. Residents will choose one time session and arrive at their designated time.

Maryland Heights’ residents (no businesses, please) can safely dispose of computers, radios, cameras, VCRs, CD players - nearly anything that has a cord or battery. Most items are free to recycle, but some fees apply to certain items (such as LCD, LED and plasma TVs and computer monitors). For a complete list of accepted items and associated fees, visit: mrcrecycling.net/recycling-fees

By way of a grant from the St. Louis County Health Department, we are offering the opportunity to dispose of a CRT TV for free. CRT TVs are the older style televisions that use cathode ray tubes made of leaded glass, which is considered hazardous waste. It typically costs $30-$50 to dispose of these types of TVs. If you have a CRT TV that you would like get rid of, register for a session that includes a “voucher.” If you register by phone, please ask staff if vouchers are available and they will be able to assist you. On the day of the event, you will be given a voucher to give to the MRC staff. No need to bring any printed tickets. Staff will check you in using the name on registration.

Beginning July 1, residents can register at marylandheights.com/RecyclingEvents or by phone at (314) 291-6550.
